Matthew Ferguson plays Jason Birkoff, who was recruited into Section One after the brave, sacrificial death of his twin brother Seymour. Unlike his brother, Jason is politically shrewd, self-confident, and oddly compatible with Section's cruel environment. Like his brother, he is also gifted with computer expertise, and Madeline and Operations sought to use his abilities to depose their superiors in the shadowy higher layers of Section's organization. Their experiment failed when Mr. Jones discovered their ruse, but Mr. Jones also recognized Jason's unique abilities, and kept him on as a trusted assistant.
